Regional Accreditation

  • Central State University, Ohio's 1890 Land-Grant University, is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.  As a result of the support and commitment of its Board of Trustees, alumni, community representatives, and the campus community, including the administration, faculty, staff, and students.  And, following a comprehensive review of CSU's academic programs and services on March 6-7, 2017, the Higher Learning Commission continued CSU'S accreditation. Central State University has maintained continuous accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission since 1949.

Specialized Accreditations

  • John Garland College of Engineering, Science, Technology, and Agriculture: Manufacturing Engineering and Environmental Engineering

     

    The Manufacturing Engineering and Water Resource Management programs are both accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. ABET is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Manufacturing Engineering (MFE) is one of only a few programs in the nation that are dedicated to undergraduate manufacturing engineering education.

    The Environmental Engineering program, housed within the Department of Water Resources Management (WRM), offers the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. The Water Resource Management program supports the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Agriculture and works closely in conducting research with the Manufacturing Engineering (MFE) program and the Department of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

  • Central State University’s College of Business received 10-year accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the College of Business at Central State University meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

    The accreditation covers degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. The Business Administration major currently has eight concentrations, including a new concentration in Agribusiness. The accreditation acknowledges the University’s commitment to teaching excellence and quality improvement.

  • The College of Education and its degree programs are authorized by the State of Ohio. The College is accredited by CAEP, the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation.

  • The Social Work program, housed within the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, has been granted initial accreditation for its bachelor's degree programs by the Council on Social Work Education. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for social work education in this country. The Social Work program offers a Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science in Social Work.

  • College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences

    Housed within the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, the Department of Fine and Performing Arts offers two accredited programs, Art and Music.

     

    Central State University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in Studio Arts and Graphic Design and a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education.

  • Housed within the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, the Department of Fine and Performing Arts offers two accredited programs, Art and Music.

    Central State University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and offers Bachelor of Music degrees in Jazz Studies, Music Education, and Performance.
