Central State University Chorus
Lifting our voices
Active on campus and around the world, the Grammy-nominated Central State University Chorus is Marauder pride. The ensemble of some 50 voices has performed everywhere from President Barack Obama’s White House to China and Spain. Acclaimed singers, including opera star Leontyne Price and jazz singer Nancy Wilson, got their start with the CSU Chorus.
All the right notes
With the motto “Dedication, Passion, Discipline and Excellence,” the Central State Chorus highlights the contributions of Black composers and arrangers and has a repertoire spanning Bach, jazz, gospel, and rock. Its audiences include congregations and schools, and, in 2022, the chorus performed gospel songs at a Dayton correctional facility, bringing a message of hope to incarcerated women.
When not touring, rehearsing, or performing on campus, the chorus records and releases inspiring albums, most recently Renaissance.
