Banner Self-Service Upgrade to Version 9

Dear Central State University Faculty, Staff, and Students,

We are excited to announce that on Monday, October 13, 2025, Banner Self-Service (SSB) was upgraded from version 8 to version 9. This upgrade is part of our ongoing commitment to enhance the tools that support your academic and administrative needs.

New and Enhanced Features

  • For Students:
    • Intuitive registration with mobile-friendly planning
    • Consolidated advising profiles showing your education and career path in one view, plus quick access to grades and schedules.
  • For Faculty:
    • Simplified grade and imports from spreadsheets or learning management systems.
    • Class rosters with student profile views, email communication, and printable options.
  • For Staff and Employees:
    • User-friendly dashboards for employee self-service, including profile management, direct deposit setup, and position descriptions.
    • Targeted communication tools for sending reminders, notices, or financial aid letters using Banner data.
  • General Improvements:
    • Tools like "purchase requisitions" for faster procurement (where applicable).

  • Modernized User Interface with Easier and Faster Use: A fresh, consumer-web style design replaces the older layout, with improved navigation, and accessibility features. Reduced learning curve for new or occasional users.
  • Streamlined Processes: Simplified workflows for common tasks with customizable dashboards and institutional branding for a more personalized experience.
  • Improved Accessibility and Security: Better support for users of all abilities, along with ongoing updates for fixes, patches, and regulatory compliance. Fully responsive design allows seamless access on any device, including smartphones and tablets, without needing additional apps
