Assessment and Accreditation

Central State University’s College of Education is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for a period of seven years, from 2019-2026. The following programs were included in the 2019 CAEP review:

  • Primary (PK-5)
  • Intervention Specialist Education Mild/Moderate (K-12)
  • Middle Childhood Education
  • Integrated Social Studies, Math, and Language Arts (grades 7-12)
  • Life Science, Physical Science (grades 7-12)
  • Music Education (grades PK-12)

Since the 2019 CAEP Review, the College of Education has expanded Education Preparation Programs by adding Agricultural Education and Physical Education. 

The Ohio Department of Higher Education approves all teacher preparation programs offered at Central State University.

CAEP Accountability Measures

  • AY 2021-2022 – Ohio Resident Educator Data for Measure 1 is not yet available.  The EPP will review and share Ohio Resident Educator Data for 2021-2022 when the Ohio Department of Higher Education releases the new report in Spring 2023.

  • Graduate employers are surveyed annually to rate their Impact and Effectiveness in the classroom.

  • The stakeholder program evaluation survey is completed by cooperating teachers who mentor student teachers and work directly with the Education Preparation Program.

  • Central State provides an opportunity for P-12 partners to present to EPP candidates on campus to discuss opportunities, explore career opportunities and recruit candidates for open positions. Data is not currently available for 2020-2021. This instrument was piloted in 2021-2022 and will be validated for AY 2022-2023.
