Central State University researchers, students harvest raspberries on campus

The Agricultural Research and Development Program (ARDP) at Central State University carried out its annual raspberry harvest on the campus demonstration plot on June 13 and 20.

The raspberry demonstration plot is central to the University's ongoing research to develop agricultural automation technologies for specialty crops. The long-term goal is to design and develop autonomous machines enabled with computer vision and artificial intelligence capabilities to enhance the productivity, sustainability, and profitability of specialty crops in Ohio and beyond.
The harvest was organized by CSU Precision Agriculture lab team members, Research Technician Sena Atsyo and Research Assistant Professor Dr. Rajveer Dhillon. Marauders from various research labs and extension programs participated in the harvest and got the opportunity to learn about ongoing research projects, raspberry picking, and yield monitoring. The CSU Extension team helped in washing and freezing the berries in preparation for making raspberry Jam.
A total of 18 participants took part in the harvest, including 14 students:
- Dr. Dhillon
- Brian Kampman (CSU Extension Technician)
- Nassim Bessaad (Postdoctoral Researcher)
