Lead Together Conference: Elevating CSU Student Leadership in Unity and Strength
On Oct. 15, 2025, the Student Center Ballroom at Central State University became a place of unity, purpose, and growth during the Lead Together Conference, a vision led by Student Trustee Asia Brown. What began as an idea in fall 2024 evolved into a defining event that embodied the concept that: Innovation is in our DNA. Noticing the need for this conference, Trustee Brown, rooted in dedication, served with intention and purpose to bring this investment to fruition for the CSU community.
The evening opened with a banquet dinner, where students, faculty, and staff gathered to share a meal and reflect on their journeys as leaders. The smooth sound of live jazz filled the room, creating an atmosphere of connection and anticipation. It was a moment to pause, celebrate progress, and prepare for what was to come.
Following dinner, the conference began with powerful guidance from Dawn Tyler Lee, founder and CEO of Forrest Street Consulting. Renowned for her leadership development and executive coaching expertise, she led participants through transformative sessions, including the DiSC® assessment and communication-style workshops. Her message was clear. Leadership begins with self-awareness, empathy, and a willingness to grow.
Participants described the experience as both empowering and perspective-shifting. “I walked away with a deeper understanding of who I am as a leader,” one student shared. “This conference helped me see leadership from a completely new perspective — not as a title, but as a responsibility to uplift others.”
The evening also featured a moving poetic performance by Raven Makale Goliday, also known as Miss Central State University 2023–2024. Her words captured the spirit of the moment — leadership rooted in legacy, reflection, and purpose — leaving the audience deeply inspired.
Reflecting on the event, Student Trustee Asia Brown shared, “This was never just a program; it was the beginning of a new chapter for CSU leadership. We came together to strengthen our skills, bridge gaps, and move forward as one community — united in purpose and driven by excellence.”
The Lead Together Conference marked more than an evening of development — it signified a new moment for CSU leadership moving forward. The lessons learned and connections built that night will continue to shape the culture of leadership at Central State for years to come. This investment in our community is one that will benefit not only today’s leaders but generations of Marauders yet to come.
