Central State University welcomes Matt Kirksey as Director of Financial Aid

Central State University proudly welcomes Matt Kirksey as the new Director of Financial Aid. A Certified Financial Aid Administrator® with more than 15 years of experience, Kirksey brings a student-centered approach, deep knowledge of financial aid policy, and a strong commitment to equity and access.

Kirksey joins Central State from Stark State College, where he served as Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships. His leadership focused on helping students overcome financial barriers to higher education through streamlined services and data-informed decision-making. His experience also includes roles at Ohio State University, the University of Akron, and in the proprietary sector — giving him a broad perspective on the challenges and opportunities in financial aid across diverse institutions.
Kirksey’s impact extends beyond campus leadership. He has held multiple elected positions within the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA), including serving as Vice President for Training for the 2022–23 and 2023–24 academic years. In this role, he led professional development programs for financial aid professionals across Ohio. Nationally, he has contributed to policy discussions through his work with the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), including as a member of the Rapid Response Network.
His academic credentials reflect his commitment to lifelong learning: an Associate of Science from Cuyahoga Community College, a Bachelor of Arts from Cleveland State University, a master's degree in Higher Education Administration from Tiffin University, and ongoing doctoral studies in Educational Leadership at Capella University.
As CSU continues to promote student success and expand access to higher education, Kirksey’s leadership will be instrumental in ensuring our students receive the support they need to thrive.
Please join us in welcoming Matt Kirksey to the Central State University community.
