Central State University communicator picked to lead national learning community

Cyril Ibe, Ph.D., interim communications coordinator for Central State University's 1890 Land-Grant Programs, has been elected chair of the Leadership and Management Learning Community for the Association for Communication Excellence (ACE), a national network of communications professionals and educators.

Dr. Ibe’s uncontested election was confirmed during the three-day 2025 ACE conference, held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from June 16-18.
“I am deeply honored to be elected unopposed by my peers to lead the ACE Leadership and Management Learning Community,” Dr. Ibe said. “Central State University may be the 'youngest Land-Grant Institution’ in the nation — so designated in 2014 — but I believe we must show up in several circles, not only to be noticed, but to lead as well.”
ACE membership comprises professionals “who extend knowledge about agriculture, natural resources, and life and human sciences.”
ACE has nine different learning communities, including Electronic Media and Photography Marketing and Social Media, and more — through which members can engage with peers of various communication backgrounds from around the world as they share common interests and expertise and seek professional development and growth.
ACE offers “professional development and connection opportunities for those who work with and for educational, governmental, and research institutions and associated organizations and companies,” according ACE website.
Dr. Ibe will work with Katherine Hancock as vice chair for the ACE Leadership and Management Learning Community for 12 months. Hancock is the assistant vice chancellor for marketing and communications for Texas A&M AgriLife in College Station, Texas.
ACE was founded in July 1913 as the American Association of Agricultural College Editors (AAACE). It has gone through several name changes over its 112-year history.
