Central State University Athletics Launches the Gold Standard Podcast

Central State University Athletics has unveiled an exciting new way to engage Marauder Nation with the launch of The Gold Standard podcast — a dynamic platform that gives fans a front-row seat to the stories, struggles, and triumphs of student-athletes and coaches. 

Athletic Director, Kevecia Brown says the podcast is more than just a sports show; it’s a storytelling platform rooted in the lived experiences of CSU athletes. 

“The Gold Standard podcast is a powerful way for us to tell the Central State University story through the voices that live it, our student-athletes, and coaches. Like a regular sports show it's about what happens on the field, track, court, and course, but we also talk about what it takes to get there. We are talking about the work, the growth, the setbacks, and the moments that define us.” 

What sets this show apart is its authentic spotlight on the HBCU athlete experience. 

“What makes this podcast so special is that it also shows what it means to be an HBCU athlete — the similarities we share with college athletes everywhere, and the unique experiences that set us apart. It’s a chance to share our stories, our struggles, our triumphs, and to celebrate the impact that sports have on shaping who we are on and off the field,” Brown added. 

Hosted by Jackson Lightcap, lead broadcaster for TKDS Sports and producer of the Gold Standard, the show promises to bring a new energy to Marauder Athletics coverage. 

“I’m excited for the opportunity. It’s NCAA DII athletics, it’s hard not to be excited. There’s a lot of great things happening at Central State & I’m happy to be a part of it,” Lightcap said.
