African Heritage Seed Starting

April 9, 2026
6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Emery Hall, Central State University, Wilberforce, OH. Meet in the lower level conference room.

An exciting new focus within the Seed to Bloom Botanical and Community Garden will be breaking ground to develop a Black Heritage garden plot. In 2024, a Sustainable Agriculture and Research Education (SARE) grant was awarded for the "Ohio African Heritage Crop" project to grow culturally specific and heirloom crops to test their viability and future sustainability in the Ohio growing environment. Saving seeds from the first season trial period, we’ll have some lead time to start seedlings for the garden plot. With successful germination, we'll transplant and direct seed Thursday, June 4, 2026. Ages: 18+. For more information call 937-939-1746 or email seedtobloombotanicalgarden@centralstate.edu.
