Dr. Roger Anderson received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University (Columbus) specializing in Foreign, Second, and Multilingual Education. He received his BA and MA in African Studies/French from the Ohio University (Athens), and an MA in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language from Middlebury College. As a native monolingual, English speaker, Roger is an avid language learner. He loves helping fellow learners to see the world anew through the prism of a second language. A native Ohioan, he also enjoys orienting newcomers to the U.S. culturally and linguistically, benefitting from the cultural knowledge they bring. Beyond his teaching of French, Arabic, and ESL, Roger’s research interests focus on aspects of second language acquisition (SLA), including investment, language ideology, and multilingualism. He also has commitments in the development of Arabic pedagogies, service learning, and welcoming international students to North American universities. In his free time, Roger loves hiking, maintaining his second languages, and keeping up with Ohio sports, even the Browns.
