Convocation Speaker Series - Janet E. Jackson
This week’s speaker is Janet E. Jackson, former president and CEO of United Way of Central Ohio. Jackson made history as the first woman and the first African American to lead one of the largest United Way organizations in the country, serving in the role for 14 years.
Her career includes breaking barriers as the first African-American female judge in Franklin County and as the first woman and African American elected Columbus City Attorney. She also served as the city’s chief legal advisor. A graduate of Wittenberg University and the George Washington University Law School, Jackson has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Allies of Equality Award from Equality Ohio and the Woman of Achievement Award from the YWCA of Columbus.
