Pre Law Program

The Pre Law Program engages in a myriad of activities. To date, it has hosted movie screenings on issues of racism and social justice, several LSAT information sessions, and a number of forums on law school admission requirements.


In addition, through the support of the President’s Office and Title III funding, pre-law students are provided with state of the art Pre-Law Resource room as well as have the opportunity to tour some of the country’s best law schools for a hands-on learning experience. Thus far, students have toured the following law schools: The University of Dayton School of Law, The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Capital University School of Law, just to name a few.


Scheduled trips each year include, but are not limited to, Ohio Northern University College of Law, Loyola University School of Law, Northwestern University Law School, Vanderbilt University Law School, University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and Duquesne University School of Law. In addition, every year select members travel to Chicago, Illinois to attend the Law School Admissions Council Regional Law School Forum. Scheduled trips for 2009-2010 include, but are not limited to, Ohio Northern University College of Law, Loyola University School of Law, Northwestern University Law School, Vanderbilt University Law School, University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and Duquesne University School of Law. The Pre Law Program has established partnership agreements with the following law schools to provide students the opportunities such as law school programs, law school visits, and financial resources so that students will be better prepared for the next step into their career in law.


Law School Partnership Agreements


The advisor for the Pre Law Society and the Director for Pre-Law Program and Special Initiatives at Central State is Mr. Sidney Williams, Esquire.  Mr. Williams is a University of Virginia Law School graduate. He is a licensed Ohio attorney and former litigation attorney at Porter, Wright Morris & Arthur, LLP and Hahn Loeser & Parks, LLP.  Mr. Williams is also the former Dean of Students at the University of Dayton School of Law.


The administrative coordinator for the Pre-Law Society and the Pre-Law Program is Joy Sugai.  Mrs. Sugai received her undergraduate degree from University of California, Riverside and her Master’s Degree in Sociology from California State University of Northridge. She has extensive work experience in human resource recruitment and service management.
