Dr. Deng Cao is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Central State University. He has broad interests in science and engineering. He earned his Ph. D in Computer Science at West Virginia University, along with dual master degrees in Statistics and Physics.
Dr. Cao’s research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning and Big Data. His current research is using customized state-of-the-art convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to achieve automated weed and crop disease management. The robotic pest control prototype is specifically designed to enhance the cost-efficiency of crop production while reducing environmental impacts.
Dr. Cao’s also studies next generation neuromorphic computing technology that can outperform the current low-energy-high-throughput IBM TrueNorth system, and next generation biometric identification using remote biometrics such as body measurements in distance.
