Dr. Gopalakrishnan Krishnasamy is an Assistant professor of Computer Science at Central State University. He received his PhD in Computer Science from Iowa State University. His main research area of interest is Knowledge Representation and Reasoning which is a sub-field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a research focus on designing reasoning algorithms for various reasoning tasks in Description Logic Languages. He has been designing reasoning algorithms in various description logic languages and has been using these algorithms to study secrecy-preserving query answering (SPQA) problem. He has also been working on the problems of designing reasoning algorithms in modal, temporal and probabilistic description logics. During his visit to Army Research Lab, Adelphi, MD, as a summer (2017) research faculty fellow, he worked on the problem of designing reasoning algorithms in probabilistic description logic with application to SPQA problem.

For his doctoral dissertation, he considered the problem of SPQA in EL description logic family. In this thesis work, he used graph matching methods to answer sophisticated conjunctive queries. His current research focus is on studying SPQA problem in very large-scale knowledge bases in description logic using MapReduce algorithm.
