Spaces to Places: A Neighborhood Leadership Academy || Facebook event page
Join the Lima Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership (LACNIP) and Central Sate University Extension for a Spaces to Places neighborhood leadership academy series. Lima and Allen County residents are invited to meet the 3rd Thursday of the month from February through September to learn how to:

- Assess your neighborhood’s assets and challenges

- Identify and priorities your best growth opportunities

- Develop an improvement project plan and budget

- Engage neighbors and funders to get things done

This interactive series is designed for teams of three or more residents sharing a common neighborhood or interest area. According to Autumn Swanson, LACNIP President, “We all have the power and responsibility to build a better, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. This program will give you what you need to build a plan and get things done!”

Join Central State University for a series of weekly online webinars with CSU Extension Educators on topics important to small farms. Each webinar features a presentation, followed by time for questions and discussion. Here is a list of our presentations:

- 5/19 - "Taking a Soil Sample and Interpreting Results" – Learn how to take and package soil samples for testing at a professional soil lab. Understand how to adjust management decisions based on soil lab results.

- 6/16 - "Using the Web Soil Survey" – USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) provides access to the largest natural resource information system in the world. Take advantage of this free online resource to learn more about your soil and its capabilities.

- 7/21 - "Using the Soil Matrix Tool" – Take advantage of this new online resource to explore how implementing various management practices can help or hurt your soil’s health.

- 8/18 - "Integrated Pest Management Overview" - Learn an integrated approach to managing pests using cultural, mechanical, biological, and chemical controls in a holistic approach where complete eradication of the pest is not the goal.

- 9/15- "Insect Diagnostics—Who Done it?" — Not sure which insect pest is damaging your crop? Learn how some techniques to narrow down the possibilities.

- 10/20 -"OH Deer!" - Learn different methods of exclusion to keep deer away from your crops.
