Department of Defense Scholarship (DOD)

The Center for Student Opportunities is offering a scholarship up to $6,000 to STEM students for fall 2015. In order to be considered for the scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a full time student.
  • Major in the following STEM areas:

· Biology

· Pre-Biology

· Chemistry

· Pre-Chemistry

· Environmental Engineering

· Computer Science

· Geology

· Industrial Technology

· Mathematics

· Manufacturing Engineering

· Water Resources Management

  • Continuing student must have a 2.8 GPA; New incoming students must have a high school GPA of 2.8 and a 19 ACT.
  • Completed your 2015/16 FAFSA.
  • Describe in a one page essay how this scholarship will help you reach your career goals.

Scholarship Conditions

  • This scholarship is Non-Refundable.
  • $6,000 maximum award on a need basis.

Continuing Student Scholarship, formally known as Upperclassman Scholarship

Description: Academic Merit based scholarship to continuing students with more 30 or more credit hours by May 30.

Award Amount: $1,000 - $3,000

ELIGIBILITY:  For students who did not receive the Freshman Scholarship or Transfer Student Scholarship, the Continuing Student Scholarship is awarded based on completion of the Central State University General Scholarship Application.  This scholarship is not automatically renewed, but required students to reapply each year.  To be considered, students must meet the following criteria: earned a total of 30 credit hours, which are required for the completion of their program of study, and achieve a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA by May 30.  In addition, students are required to meet the FAFSA deadline to be considered for this award.  International students will be required to submit a copy of their I-20 in lieu of the FAFSA.  Additionally, students must attend different financial literacy workshops during the academic year.


Full-Ride Scholarships for STEM Majors
who meet the following criteria:

  • Ohio Residents
  • Fall Admission
  • Success in College Prep Math & Science Courses
  • 3.5 High School; GPA
  • ACT 21 or Higher
  • Majors: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Math, Environmental Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Science Education, Industrial Education.

The scholarships are renewable for up to three years based on a student’s academic performance. Students are considered upon admission to the University.

 

Transfer Scholarships in the following amounts to students who meet the corresponding criteria:

Academic Scholarship Awarded to Transfer students. The transfer scholarship is awarded based on the number of credit hours a student is transferring into the university. A student is required to have a minimum of 31 credit hours to be considered for the Transfer Scholarship.

 

ELIGIBILITY: For scholarship consideration a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed and on file with the University. Students may file a FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Central State University’s school code for the FAFSA is 003026.  It is recommended that students and families file their income taxes prior to completing the FAFSA, however, students may complete the FAFSA beginning January 1 with estimated tax amounts.  After filing taxes, students may go back and enter the correct tax information.  The FAFSA priority deadline is March 1 of the year prior to entering the University. International students will be required to submit a copy of their I-20 in lieu of the FAFSA.

The scholarships are renewable for up to three years based on a student’s academic performance. Students are considered upon admission to the University.

Students who receive a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and earn at least 30 semester hours will be eligible for a scholarship up to $3,000 in line with the continuing student scholarship criteria.

Students are automatically considered for these scholarships with a completed Central State University Application, FAFSA, and an Official College Transcript.

REMINDER: When the FAFSA is completed, students are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid to identify other potential resources for financial assistance.

External Scholarship Opportunities

General Alumni Association Scholarships
The General Alumni Association is offering Central State University students a scholarship of a $1000. Students must have at least a 2.5 minimum cumulative G.P.A, be entering into their junior or senior year, and be involved in at least one activity at Central State University.

 

Atlanta Alumni Chapter Scholarships
The Atlanta Alumni Chapter is offering Central State students from the Metro Atlanta area a scholarship of $1000. Students must have at least a 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA and be entering into their sophomore, junior, or senior year at Central State.

 

Cincinnati Alumni Chapter Scholarships
The Cincinnati Alumni Chapter is offering Central State students from the Metro Atlanta area a scholarship of $1000. Students must have at least a 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA and be entering into their sophomore, junior, or senior year at Central State.
