Storage Room Fire Causes Emergency Dormitory Evacuation

A dormitory storage room on the Central State University campus caught fire Thursday, May 1, 2008 about 6:00 am. Fire officials from six departments surrounding the Wilberforce area responded within minutes of the alarm.

Central State Athletics Well Represented at Graduation

The 2008 graduating class of Central State University saw over 40 student-athletes walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. These student-athletes represented 20 percent of the graduates.

Christopher Clark, a member of the football team received honors as the Class Scholar with the highest GPA amongst the graduating class. Clark graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Central State University’s Dayton Campus will induct 14 adult education students as charter members of the Mu Pi Chapter in the Alpha Sigma Lambda national honor society for nontraditional students at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008 in the Dayton Campus Auditorium, 840 Germantown Street.

Marauders Men’s Basketball Sign Two Top Thirty Recruits

Central State University men’s basketball program has announced the signing of two of the top 30 players in the state of Ohio High School Basketball. Coach Doug Lewis signed Cole Prophet (Sandusky H.S.) and Lee Tabb Jr. (Toledo Rogers H.S.) Prophet is a 5’5 point guard (22 ppg& 8 apg) who was 1st Team All District and All Northwest Ohio and Special Mention All Ohio Division I. Tabb is a 6’9 forward who averaged 15 points and 15 rebounds per game

The Central State University Chorus will present their Annual Spring Concert on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at 4 p.m. in the Paul Robeson Cultural & Performing Arts Center. The concert will include works by Bach, Beethoven, Verdi, Dawson, John Williams and Glenn Jones. The chorus will also perform three works written exclusively for them by Rosephanye Powell: In Dat Great Giddin Up Mornin, To Sit And Dream, and Down By The Riverside.
