The Institute of Urban Education Announces 6th Annual Urban Education Conference January 28, 2009.

 This years conference will focus on "TEACHING AND LEARNING IN A MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY" with Keynote speakers Dr. Na'im Akbar and Dr. Louis Sullivan.


About the Keynote Speakers

Dr. Na'im Akbar - Noted scholar, lecturer and author, Dr. Na'im Akbar has established a highly respected reputation for his research in African American Psychology. His scholarship in this area has led to numerous honors including the Distinguished Psychologist Award from the National Association of Black Psychologists.

Dr. Louis Sullivan - Popular health care speaker Dr. Louis Sullivan is a former US Secretary of Health and Human Services and the founding dean, director, and president emeritus of the Morehouse School of Medicine. Sullivan was also the host of the public television series Frontiers of Medicine. As Secretary of Health and Human Services from 1989-93, he managed the agency responsible for the nation's health, welfare, food and drug safety, medical research, and income security programs.
