Central State University enters Division II membership

On September 1, 2008 Central State University will move from the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) to membership in the NCAA Division II.   This move is part of a five year examination of the University’s athletic department’s ability to maintain integrity. 

Kellen Winslow, director of athletics and student wellness for Central State University said, “  the University has demonstrated that it is a viable contender.  This move to the Division II conference will provide a prestigious standing for the University and increased competition for our athletes.”

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a voluntary organization through which the nation's colleges and universities govern their athletic programs. It is comprised of institutions, conferences, organizations and individuals committed to the best interests, education and athletic participation of student-athletes.

Central State University is the only public Historically Black University in Ohio.   The University provides access to public higher education for all citizens of Ohio, and throughout the country.  Central State University is dedicated to excellence in teaching, learning, scholarship, and public service in a values-based environment.
