The Business Services Department at Central State University has started the clean up process and identified three companies to assess damages to Hunter Hall as a result of the fire in May.

State Fire officials applauded the cooperation of Central State University students; faculty and administrators for their assistance during the fact finding process into the cause of the blaze.

The University’s Dean of Students is contacting all of the students displaced by the fire to make sure they are well, and are having a productive summer.  The four students transported to a local hospital the day of the fire were treated for minor injuries, and have returned to their hometowns for the summer break.

“The safety of our campus community is paramount. We are thankful that this fire was controlled quickly, our evacuation practices were swift, and there were no serious injuries,” said John Garland, President of Central State.

Work will continue throughout the summer to get Hunter Hall ready for freshman students this fall.
