GENERAL OBJECTIVES: The research faculty will assist the principal investigator and the project manager for the research on applying remote sensing technologies and geographic information systems for the estimation of FT. A major component of the project is to synthesize the Evapotranspiration (UT) data from eddy eovariancc (EC)

towers and Bowen Ration towers installed at the fields, compare the data and determine the more optimal methodology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.   Engage in research related to applying remote sensing technologies for estimation of FT in western river basins.

2.   In collaboration with other university (AU) researchers, develop algorithms to estimate FT values using data from EC and BR towers.

3.   Assist in the field work associated with the project in instrumentation, data transmission and training of CSU students in the field instrumentation.

4.   Serve as academic mentor to WRM majors engaged in the research project in collaboration with other AU researchers.

5.   Develop sponsored domestic and international research in the field of WRM.

6.   Engage in broader activities to attract high school students in related fields.

7.   Assist the P1 in related project and departmental activities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

An earned doctorate in earth science, geography; geology, civil/environmental/agricultural engineering, geodetic sciences or related area with background in atmospheric physics. The candidate must be able to incorporate applications from the field of atmospheric physics to the problem of estimating EF from field instrumentation. The candidate should be able to handle field instrumentation incorporating sensors of atmospheric parameters and the associated data loggers and telemetry. The candidate must be able to work with remote sensing and other scientists engaged in estimating ET from fields.
