Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Lecture and laboratory teaching duties will include a senior level course in inorganic chemistry, freshman level majors chemistry lecture and lab, and non-majors physical science as needed.
• He or she will be expected to carry out sustained scholarly research involving undergraduates, preferably in an interdisciplinary environment with other faculty with backgrounds in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, animal/plant physiology, molecular genetics, and/or water resources management.
• He or she will assume the fill range of faculty duties, including research training of undergraduate students, academic advising, and service on committees.
• He or she will assume other duties as assigned by the Department Chair
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and competency in inorganic chemistry.
• Dedication to pursuing excellence in curriculum delivery, development and improvement
• Experience and interest in teaching students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
• Ability to use technology in instruction and student advising
• Involvement with recognized professional associations or organizations
• Ability to write grants and secure extramural funding in support of his or her research
Minimum Reguirements:
• Doctorate in Chemistry or related field with expertise in inorganic chemistry.
• The capacity to develop a research program that involves undergraduates in research and is competitive for extramural funding
• A commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
• Preference will be given to candidates with previous teaching experience at the college level.
