Job Description:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     Teach Reading and Composition, especially Developmental English.

     Maintain office hours and provide advisement and mentorship for students.

     Assist in curriculum development and review.

     Participate in college and professional development activities.

     Conduct and publish research.

     Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

QUALIFYING FACTORS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

     Specialization in Developmental Reading and Writing, and/or Composition Theory. Dedication to ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery, development, and improvement.

     Experience and interest in teaching students from diverse cultural, ethnic and academic backgrounds.

     Ability to use technology in instruction and student advising.

     Understanding of and commitment to the role of a comprehensive college in a multi-cultural setting.

     Involvement with recognized professional associations or organizations.

     Some familiarity or experience with, or willingness to use innovative pedagogies such as service learning.

 

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:  PhD. In English Education preferred

                    ABD considered, with Ph.D. in hand by August 2008.

                    Master's required.

Preferred Experience:  3-5 years of teaching experience.

                 Published research in relevant professional journals and/or other publications.
