• Teach Reading and Composition, especially Developmental English.
• Maintain office hours and provide advisement and mentorship for students.
• Assist in curriculum development and review.
• Participate in college and professional development activities.
• Conduct and publish research.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFYING FACTORS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Specialization in Developmental Reading and Writing, and/or Composition Theory. Dedication to ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery, development, and improvement.
• Experience and interest in teaching students from diverse cultural, ethnic and academic backgrounds.
• Ability to use technology in instruction and student advising.
• Understanding of and commitment to the role of a comprehensive college in a multi-cultural setting.
• Involvement with recognized professional associations or organizations.
• Some familiarity or experience with, or willingness to use innovative pedagogies such as service learning.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: PhD. In English Education preferred
ABD considered, with Ph.D. in hand by August 2008.
Master's required.
Preferred Experience: 3-5 years of teaching experience.
Published research in relevant professional journals and/or other publications.
