Mr. Anthony Fairbanks
Mr.
Anthony Fairbanks,
a university administrator with 25 years of experience in development
and fund-raising, came to Central State University in the fall
of 2002 as vice president of institutional advancement. He came
to CSU from a post as vice chancellor for institutional advancement
at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. He also served
for four years as vice president for development and external
relations at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. Both are historically
black institutions.
Mr. Fairbanks' higher education experience was preceded
by service as president of the Council on Career Development for
Minorities, Inc. in Dallas, and as vice president of the Woodrow
Wilson National Fellowship Foundation in Princeton, NJ.
His long and successful career has also included
consultant services to the U.S. government Departments of Labor,
Education, Housing and Urban Development, as well as to such organizations
as the Kellogg Foundation, the United Negro College Fund, the
Robert R. Moton Institute and the National Urban League.
Mr. Fairbanks earned a master's degree in public
administration from Cornell University and a bachelor's degree
in city and regional planning and urban education at Ohio State
University. As a civic and community leader, Mr. Fairbanks has
served numerous organizations as a director or advisor. In 1992,
President George Bush and the Xerox Corporation honored Mr. Fairbanks
with its Afro-American Male of the Year Award for his work in
volunteerism and with at-risk youth.
