Founded: October 2005
President: Charisse L. Weems-Gatewood
President’s Remarks:
The Pre-Law Society of Central State University was founded in October of 2005. The purpose of the Pre-Law Society is in its mission statement: “To successfully transition the Central State University student into the legal profession through a holistic approach of scholarship, service, and moral principles.”
Pre-Law Society Members are expected to be ethical, diligent, and committed to making a change. Any mission of change, however, comes first through proper preparation and preparation takes hard work. We expect the very best of each member and nothing less.
As such, our group is designed to give you the very best as you prepare for law school and beyond. Currently, the Pre-Law Society is advised by four attorneys with extensive legal experience in the areas of criminal law, corporate litigation, educational law, and corporate law.
Please contact us to learn more about our organization. We invite you to be with the best to become the best.

Motto: Excellence is the only standard!
Mission: To successfully transition the Central State University student into the legal profession through a holistic approach of scholarship, service, and moral principles.
Purpose: To create a critical minded student who is well prepared for the rigors of law school and the practice of law.
Vision: To become an institution recognized as the national leader in producing minority lawyers for the next generation.
Goals: To create social engineers. “A lawyer’s either a social engineer…a parasite on society…A social engineer [is] a highly skilled, perceptive, sensitive lawyer who [understands] the Constitution of the United States and [knows] how to explore its uses in the solving of problems of local and communities and in bettering conditions of the underprivileged citizens.
