10-11: Dominique Waters
I am a graduating senior majoring in Vocal Performance hailing from the wonderful city of Akron, Ohio. Upon graduating from Central State University, I plan to pursue a Master’s Degree at Julliard, Curtis, Rice or CCM. I want to pursue a career as a professional opera singer.
Growing up in low-income housing and having to struggle most of my life, I have made it my point to strive for excellence in all my endeavors. Central State University is where I was turned on to classical singing after I joined the chorus and started to take private voice lessons. It is here that I have grown and developed into the person that I am today. I have made it my point to be heavily involved here by pursuing student leadership positions as both a Resident Advisor and a Student Trustee. It is in these critical positions that I have been able to connect with the student body and to show my gratitude for this university through service.
I stand before you today as Mr. Central State University, one of the most highly-esteemed positions on this campus. It is an honor and privilege and most of all, it is extremely humbling to see that Central State has chosen me to serve in this capacity. I am a servant leader and that is important to me because it is my job to give back to this university that has invested in me throughout my matriculation. I have an undying love and passion for my school and I vow to never take my experiences here for granted. Central State University has made it possible for me to see a world that I never thought existed, achieve goals that I thought were unreachable and have family that will last a lifetime.
Again, I am honored to serve as your, yes YOUR Mr. Central State University for the 2010-2011 academic year. For God, For Central, For State!
