Sheryl McClung Garner
Sheryl McClung Garner is the founder and President of Envision Learning Center, a minority, woman-owned education services provider dedicated to providing enrichment and tutoring for children of all academic levels to ensure they meet and exceed daily academic standards in math, science, reading and writing. Having always seen a need for children to have an "extra push", Sheryl opened Envision Learning Center in 1999.
With over 20 years as an educator, Sheryl wishes to ensure, not only, that no child is left behind, but also that all children are moving toward a productive future.
Sheryl’s expertise is in curriculum development and student instruction. She began her career as an instructor studying under legendary educator Marva Collins in Chicago at the Westside Preparatory School (now the Marva Collins Preparatory School). Sheryl taught at the Preparatory School for six years, and each year her students consistently performed at grade level and above in the classroom and on achievement tests. Sheryl then went on to become Dean of Students and a teacher at Christ Emmanuel Christian Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio, a private school serving Kindergarten through 8th grade students. Under her guidance, students' performance reflected some of the highest results in all subjects and on standardized achievement tests.
Sheryl earned her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. She obtained her B.A. from the University of Cincinnati with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Aerospace Engineering. She has two daughters, Bria and Jayla, who both are in college on academic scholarships.
Some of Sheryl’s most recent accomplishments; 2011 Difference Maker Nominee-Union Terminal Cincinnati Museum; 2011 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist-Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce; 2012-Induction into Who’s Who in Black Cincinnati; Recipient of Summertime Kids Grants(2 years in a row); Recipient of $11,000 in product donations from 3M company; $2500 scholarship donation from 3M to send students to Envision; Chosen “lead agency” for the 21st Century Community Learning Center process ( Winton Woods City School District)-2012; Chosen “lead agency” for the Promise Neighborhoods Grants-2012; Cincinnati/Northern Business Courier- Featured in article on rising companies and woman to watch in Education, and 2009-Inducted in Cincinnati chapter of the Links, Inc.
