Audition information

It is very important that you attend the Orientation Meeting to register for auditions. You will also receive pertinent information regarding the rehearsal schedule, performances, requirements, cost, etc., as well as have the opportunity to be able to ask questions that you may have.

For the Out of State/Off-campus candidates, accommodations may be made for you to stay on campus if needed for a minimal fee. Transportation to and from the University will be your responsibility. Just indicate on the audition form if you will need accommodations.

The dress code for the clinics and auditions is listed below:

FEMALES
Aerobic Wear
White Socks (No Footies)
White Gym Shoes
NO JEWELRY


MALES
Dark Shorts (black, navy blue or maroon)
White T-Shirt (No prints)
White Socks (No Footies)
White Gym Shoes
NO JEWELRY

Judging


Females, during the clinics, you will be taught a group cheer, group chant, and a group dance routine. Males, you will be taught a chant. Both females and males will need to create an individual chant, as well as a cheer dance routine approximately 1:30 to present before the judges. (Music needs to be on a CD and identified; our colors are Maroon & Gold; and we are the MARAUDERS). You will be judged on the following:

  • Appearance
  • Spirit & Enthusiasm
  • Motion Technique
  • Voice & Projection
  • Jump (Toe Touch)


In addition, males will be judged on the following partner stunts:

  • Toss To Chair
  • Toss to Hands
  • Toss to Hands to Extension

The scoring process for the above material will range from 1 to 5 and is listed as follows:

(1) Very Weak
(2) Below Average
(3) Average
(4) Above Average
(5) Great

 

These gymnastic stunts may be demonstrated for additional bonus points:

  • Standing Back Hand Spring
  • Round Off, Back Hand Spring
  • Round Off, Traveling Back Hand Springs (at least three)
  • Standing Back Tuck
  • Round Off, Back Hand Spring, Back Tuck 
  • Round Off, Back Hand Spring, Back Lay Out
  • Round Off, Back Hand Spring, Full Twist
  • Round Off, Back Hand Spring, Double Full Twist
  • Round Off, Back Hand Spring, X-Out
