Marauders Win Big to Begin 2008-2009 Season

The Marauders (1-0) only trailed once 2-0 to the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia in the opening round of the Clarion Hotel Tournament at Shepherd University (WV). CSU scored on a three point jumper by Robert Harris (who finished with 24 points) and never looked back as they coasted to a 100-81 victory.

 

            Four other Marauders were in double figure scoring, Reginald Harwell  Jeremy Hightower and Gino Smith all came off the bench to score twelve points and Darryl Brownlee added ten.

 

CSU shot 55 percent from the field for the game and 88 percent from the foul line to score 50 points in each half while holding the Firebirds to 41 percent shooting. Teamwork was strong for the Marauders as they had 21 assists on the night. They also took their game inside scoring 36 points in the paint.

 

The Marauders will play Fayetteville State (NC) in the championship game at 4:00 PM on Sunday.
