Lady Marauders Drop Season Opener to Shaw University (NC) 61-52
By
Twenty-eight turnovers and shooting just 33 percent from the field proved to be the Lady Marauders downfall as they dropped their season opener to Shaw University at home.
The Lady Bears came into the game with a 1-2 record and did not play much better than Central State with 26 turnovers of their own and shooting 39 percent from the field but it was enough to win.
Ejaye Ofomata had 7 points and eight rebounds for Central State and Evin Wimberly from Yellow Springs, OH added nine points. Coach Patricia Tramble played 12 players trying to find the right combination against the Bears who had a definite height advantage against the Lady Marauders.
Both teams had 24 points in the paint and Shaw had five second chance points to Central’s 6. The big statistical difference was Shaw’s 30 points off of turnovers to CSU’s 16.
The Lady Marauders will host the University of Charleston (WV) on Thursday November 20 as they try to even their record for the season.
