When Brandy Stewart showed up at
CSU
Tennis Coach Donte Jackson’s door he did not know the pleasant surprise that was coming to him. Not only did Brandy soon become his number one singles player she also teamed up to be part of his number one doubles tandem.
Brandy who is from Cleveland, OH and went to Maple Heights High School did not play tennis in high school, but rather under the tutelage and coaching of her father began playing at nine years of age and played junior tournaments around the country.
Her most interesting tournament she said was in
Texas
where she took third place last year. She also won in
Indianapolis
where the tournament was sponsored by ATP.
Originally headed for
Chicago
State
on a scholarship Brandy instead enrolled at
Central
State
when her ACT scores were not high enough to be eligible at a Division I program. So what was one
CSU
’s loss (Chicago State Univ) became another
CSU
’s (
Central
State
) gain.
A Sociology major, Brandy has a 9-5 record this year for the Lady Marauders who as a team is experiencing their most successful season since the program was restarted several years ago.
Brandy plays on playing in more tournaments this summer against the best competition she can to further hone her skills so that next season with the Lady Marauders will lead to more success.
