Marauders Run Past Tiffin for 93-63 Victory
By
One of the three losses the CSU Marauders have suffered this season was at the hands of Tiffin University on January 22 in Tiffin’s gym. Tonight the Marauders moved to 17-3 and avenged that loss with a 93-63 victory in their gym.
Lead by Boo Wade’s 24 points and nine rebounds the Marauders had five players in double figure scoring as they never trailed and were tied only once in the game 2-2 in the opening minute of play.
`The Marauders shot 56 percent from the floor including 5 of 13 from beyond the arc to move out to a 51-36 lead at half. The Dragons were able to stay that close by hitting 7 of 13 from three point range in the first half.
In the second half CSU cooled off to hitting 45 percent and five of 10 from three point range to gradually build their lead to 30. Meanwhile the Dragons were able to hit only 2 of 8 from three point range and nine of 19 from the field as they turned the ball over 12 times.
Beside Wade’s 24 points, Darryl Brownlee had 18 which included 4 of 8 from beyond the arc. Will Gaines added 17 and Lincoln Bradley had 15 and Everett Bennett contributed 15 from the bench.
Brian Scott for Tiffin, a Dayton native, and Alex Strok each had 20 points and were the only Dragons in double figures.
CSU out rebounded Tiffin 39-29 and shot 83 percent from the line connecting on 15 of 18 free throws. CSU was strong inside hitting 38 points in the paint.
The Marauders are back in action again on Thursday at 7:00 PM when they host Lake Superior State, another team that they lost to back in December.
