Pedro Noguera, PhD
nogueroPedro Noguera, PhD, renowned scholar and author, will keynote on September 24th. Noguera is a professor in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University. He is also the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education and co-directs the Institute for the study of Globalization and Education in Metropolitan Settings (IGEMS). An urban sociologist, Noguera’s focus is on schools influenced by social and economic conditions in urban environments. His latest book is entitled "The Trouble with Black Boys."

 

Eleanor Rodriguez, PhD
imageEleanor Rodriguez, PhD has served in positions ranging from substitute teacher to superintendent at all levels of public school education. Currently a consultant for Rodriguez and Associates, she provides professional development opportunities for educators and education administrators abroad and throughout the United States. Rodriguez’ experience includes general administrative operations with specific responsibilities in staff development, special education, adult education, and alternative programs for districts, and also providing effective instructional leadership in the total operation of the school including planning, managing, operating, and evaluating the educational needs of students. Her seminal book is, “What Is It About Me You Can’t Teach?

 

A. Wade Boykin, PhD
imageA. Wade Boykin, PhD will keynote on the 25th. He is a professor and Director of the Graduate Program of Psychology at Howard University. Boykin has served as Co-director of the National Center for Research on the Education of Students Placed At Risk (CRESPAR). CRESPAR’s mission is to formulate, implement, research, evaluate and disseminate comprehensive school reform and school improvement initiatives according to a Talent Development model of schooling. A prolific author and researcher, Boykin is currently completing a co-authored book on Closing the Achievement Gap.
