Education Announces the 7th Annual National Urban Education Conference
January 20, 2010 with keynote speaker Dr. Na'im Akbar,
invited special guest Dr. Bobby Jones, with a special two hour workshop
presented by Dr. Noma LeMoine

Dr. Akbar
is a noted scholar, lecturer and author. He has established a highly
respected reputation for his research in African American Psychology.
His scholarship in this area has led to numerous honors including the
Distinguished Psychologist Award from the National Association of Black
Psychologists.

Dr. Bobby Jones has been with BET since the
company started in 1980. He dominates Sunday programming as the host
and executive producer of Bobby Jones Gospel, and producer of Video
Gospel. Bobby Jones Gospel, for which he is best known, has been seen
on BET since November 1980 and is one of the network's most popular
shows. Every Sunday, Jones along with the New Life Singing Aggregation
performs contemporary gospel music and welcomes an array of gospel
artists such as Kirk Franklin, John P. Kee, Yolanda Adams, The Canton
Spirituals, Hezekiah Walker and
more. |

Dr. Noma LeMoine is a nationally recognized
expert on issues of language variation and learning in African American
and other students for whom Standard English is not native. She has
written and spoken extensively on the topic and is a highly
sought-after consultant to colleges, universities, and school districts
nationwide. |
