Welcome

The Teacher Education Advisement and Partnership Center (TEAP-C), a service unit of the College of Education (CoE) at Central State University (CSU).  TEAP-C assists pre-education candidates in navigating the program admission process.  All students who desire to be licensed teachers enter the University as pre-education candidates.  Before becoming full-fledged education candidates, they must be admitted to their chosen programs (e.g. Early Childhood Education, Music Education, Adolescent to Young Adult Language Arts) by developing and demonstrating basic academic skills and professional dispositions.

State and national accrediting agencies expect CSU teacher education programs to establish admission standards and criteria. CoE’s admission process helps ensure that candidates are adequately prepared to become highly qualified standard-bearers of the teaching profession. Candidates cannot move forward to take methods courses or do student teaching until they are proficient in skills and can demonstrate necessary behaviors.

TEAP-C was established to guide aspiring teachers through the admission process. Pre-education candidates should start acquiring and practicing skills and behaviors as early as possible.  The first semester of freshman year is the best time to begin.

TEAP-C staff will be delighted to advise pre-education candidates on their road to admission.  TEAP-C office hours are
8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  TEAP-C is located in Joshua I. Smith Center for Education & Natural Sciences, suite 217 and offices 220 E and F on
CSU’s campus.
