Welcome

Our College has a long and proud history of preparing competent teachers and educational leaders. We prepare teachers who are effective in serving as empathic facilitators of learning for diverse students. We are committed to preparing educators who have the ability to vicariously experience students in their situations and actively care to the extent of taking appropriate actions to help students learn and develop.

Each of our teacher preparation programs consists of courses in general education, subject area major, professional education, and field experience and student teaching. We provide a post-baccalaureate route to the programs. The post-baccalaureate route is designed for individuals who already have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university but seek initial teacher licensure. It typically attracts individuals who have no experience in teaching or those who have some experience as tutors, paraprofessionals, and teacher aides. We also offer a Master of Education program that prepares candidates for a variety of leadership and teaching positions.

Our teacher education programs are undergirded by the beliefs and values we hold about teaching and learning, and about teacher preparation. The beliefs and values are articulated in the Conceptual Framework of our College. The theme of our Conceptual Framework is: Teachers as Empathic Facilitators of Learning.

I invite you to review information about us, and let us know if you want to know more about any of our programs.
