Lieutenant Colonel Mike Thomas is an American Soldier who hails from amilitary family and claims Muncie, Indiana as his home.  After graduating from High School in Northern Virginia, he entered the Army in 1984 as an enlisted member serving three years, leaving the Army as a team leader.  He then attended Ball State University and graduated in 1991 receiving a commission in the Military Police Corps
Regiment.  Since that time, he as served in the various leadership positions expected of an Army officer.

LTC Thomas currently serves as the Professor of Military Science at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio where he is responsible for recruiting, training, retaining, developing and commissioning quality STEM, nurse and generalist students in order to provide the United States Army competent second lieutenants; leaders

Prior to arriving at Central State University, LTC Thomas served as the Chief of the Joint Force-on-Force Evaluation Branch of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.  In that capacity, he acted as the Evaluation Director of the MIGHTY GUARDIAN Evaluation Program.  This program is chartered to assess Department of Defense, Service and major operational command level nuclear weapon and Special Nuclear Material security policy.  In addition, he was the DoD lead in support of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s recovery and recapture table top exercise program and serves as the Exercise Subcommittee Chairman for the Security Policy Verification Committee.  Prior to arriving at DTRA, LTC Thomas served as the Director of Emergency Services, US Army Garrison Vicenza and the as the US Army's Southern European Task Force Provost Marshal (dual-hated).  In this capacity he deployed in support of combat operations in Afghanistan (OEF VI) in 2005 and 2006.  His other assignments include leadership and staff positions expected of an officer of his grade in the US Army Military Police Corps including a deployment as a battalion executive officer in support of combat operations in Iraq (OIF I) and peacetime deployments to Egypt and Panama.

LTC Thomas has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, multiple campaign and service medals, the airborne qualification badge, the air assault qualification badge and the Combat Action Badge.

LTC Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice/Criminology from Ball State University, a Master of Arts degree in
Management from Webster University and a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of Phoenix.  He is a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College.

He and his wife and best friend, the former Kelley Weatherhead, reside
in Beavercreek Township, Ohio.
