ART 201. Introduction to Two Dimensional Computer Art (I, II, III ; 3) Beginning level course designed for students with little or no prior knowledge of computers or their graphic applications: Students will acquire basic computer skills and be introduced to the creative possibilities and applications of twodimensional computer graphics and electronic media. Students will learn to use user-friendly paint programs, digitizing programs and animation software to solve creative problems.
ART 202. Image Processing for Artists (I; 35) This course builds on concepts learned in Art 201. In this course students will explore the foundations of twodimensional image processing and animation. In this course students will use user-friendly paint packages and animation programs to explore the creative possibilities of image processing techniques in computer graphics. Prerequisite: ART 201.
ART 203. User Interfaces (III; 3 Even Years) This course explores the design of graphical user interfaces for computer systems. Techniques for implementing modern computeruser interfaces; cognitive models and window management systems will be explored.
ART 301. Introduction to ThreeDimensional Computer Art (I, II, III; 3) Beginning level course designed for students with little or no prior knowledge of computers or their graphic applications. Students will acquire basic computer skills and be introduced to the creative possibilities of three-dimensional computer graphics using electronic media. In this course students will use user-friendly object building programs to build models, explore view parameters, lighting modes, surface attributes and basic concepts of three-dimensional design.
ART 302. Introduction to ThreeDimensional Animation (II; 35) This course builds on concepts learned in ART 301. In this course students will be introduced to the concepts of three dimensional computer graphics and animation. Prerequisite: ART 301.
ART 361. Advertising Graphics I (I; 3) This course covers advertising theory, techniques, and use of studio equipment, safety practices, and projects geared toward conceptualthinking in advertising design. Prerequisites.
ART 362. Advertising Graphics II (II; 3) This course will continue to build on conceptthinking and visual resolution learned in ART 361. More emphasis is also given to improved craftsmanship. Prerequisites.
ART 363. Advertising Graphics III (III; 3) This course covers using sound advertising fundamentals to tackle two-dimensional projects, posters, brochures, and menu covers. Basic production techniques will also be covered. Prerequisites.
ART 367. Advertising Graphics Workshop I (I;3) This course is a continuation of ART 363 with more complicated projects. Lab Fee $25. Prerequisite: ART 361.
ART 368. Advertising Graphics Workshop II (II; 3) This course is a continuation of ART 367. Color separation. typograhy, logo design, basic photography. Pre-requisite: ART 367.
ART 369. Digital Photography (I; 3 Odd Years) This course provides an introduction to digital photography. Students will study transgamma mapping, color spaces, resolution and reproduction in various media in addition to calibrating color reproduction devices.
