Academics are the heart of Central State. We are committed to producing graduates that are well qualified to move into their chosen profession or go on to graduate school.
Career Paths
Each of the degree programs will prepare the graduate for immediate employment in industry, business, government, or education, or for graduate study in the field of his or her choice. Each is a four-year degree program approved by the Ohio Board of Regents.
With a B. S. in computer science you can expect to command a starting salary above $40,000. Employment opportunities are especially bright regionally. Major employers in the region include NCR, General Electric, Westinghouse, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Procter and Gamble, Ameritech, NASA, and government (local, state & federal). Similarly, a B. S. degree in mathematics can lead to top-paying jobs in the industries mentioned above.
A critical shortage of mathematics teachers exists nationwide, and the program responds to that need with a mathematics education major that prepares students for teacher certification in middle schools and adolescence to young adult (7 -12). Because of a reciprocal agreement, Ohio certification is honored in 37 states. The high quality of Central State University education courses, combined with the calibre of the mathematics curriculum, ensures you an excellent foundation for a teaching career.
