Assistant Professor of Music / Collaborative Pianist

Pianist Neil Nanyi Qiang is pursuing a diverse career as a chamber musician, vocal coach, and soloist. He has performed solo, chamber, and vocal recitals throughout the US, Canada, and China.

An alumnus of Music Academy of the West’s Collaborative Piano Program, he has appeared in music festivals such as SongFest, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, iSING Young Artists Festival, Vancouver International Song Institute, and New Music on the Point, among others. Most recently he held the Pianist/Coach fellowship at the “ECCO” program of Minnesota Opera.

Qiang has performed in masterclasses given by Sir. Thomas Allen, Jonathan Feldman, Margo Garrett, Richie Hawley, Martin Katz, Julie Landsman, Donald McInnes, Susanne Mentzer, John Musto, Roger Vignoles, among others. An advocate of new music. Qiang is a member of group 113 (One Thirteen).

Neil Nanyi Qiang is an Assistant Professor of Music at Central State University in Wilberforce, OH. In his faculty appointment, he coaches with singers, instrumentalists and the world-renowned CSU chorus. He holds MM in Piano Performance from the University of Washington and Currently he is finishing up his DMA in Collaborative Piano and Coaching at the Univ. of Minnesota.
