Jazz Studies
Minimum hours needed to obtain a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies: 124.
General education requirements (32-34 hours):
- ENG 1100 (or 1101), 1102;
-
MTH 1750;
-
HIS 1110, 1121 or 1122;
-
FYS 1101;
-
HPR 1000;
-
1 semester credit from HPR 1101-1121;
-
3 semester hours from Social and Behavioral Sciences; and
-
3 semester credits from Natural and Physical Sciences (must include a lab), and
-
3 Humanities Elective credit hours;
Required music courses:
- MUS 1101, 1102, 1151, 1152, 2201, 2202, 2233, 2236, 2271, 2272, 3311, 3312, 3381, 3382, 3386, 3391, 3392, 4341, 4342, 4490, 4495;
- 16 semester hours in principal applied; and
- 12 semester hours in jazz ensembles.
A grade of “C” or better is required.
NOTE: A grade of “B” or better is required in Principal Applied courses.
