Dr. Kwawisi Tekpetey was educated at the University of Ghana, Legon, (B.A. Hons in French); Université de Bordeaux (Certificat d’études françaises); Université de Montréal, Canada (Maitrîse-ès-Lettres in French); University of Wisconsin, Madison, (Ph.D. in African Languages and Literatures). His research interests are in: General Linguistics, African Verbal Art Forms, Francophone as well as Anglophone African Literature. Dr. Tekpetey has taught at the Ghana Institute of Languages, Accra; the University of Wisconsin, Madison; California State University, Sacramento; Université Nationale de Côte d’Ivoire, Abidjan; and was a Visiting Professor at Université de Niamey, Niger; and the State University of New York, Potsdam. He was also a Research Fellow at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon. He is currently Chair, CSU Honors Advisory Council as well as Associate Editor of African Literature Today, and International Journal of African Studies. Apart from his mother tongue Krobo, Dr Tekpetey speaks other Ghanaian languages, notably Ga and Twi. He is fluent in French and Swahili, and has a smattering knowledge of Spanish, Wolof, and Ewe.
