Delays, Closings and Emergency Notifications

In the event of inclement weather that could affect student and employee access to the University, we will communicate a weather-related delay, closing or class cancellation by 6:30 a.m.

Satellite locations, including CSU-Dayton, the city of Trotwood, and the Xenia YMCA, may have unique issues required to be addressed separately from the main campus. Notifications will list each location individually.

In the event of inclement weather, information will be posted at centralstate.edu/weather. Please bookmark this page.

When inclement weather occurs, Central State University utilizes several tools to communicate with members of our community in a quick and coordinated manner. These tools include:

Delays and Closings

Central State University will inform the campus community about early dismissals, delays in opening or University closures due to severe weather or other circumstances beyond the University’s control.

The University utilizes a variety of mediums, including the All-FYI email, the website, social media, traditional media and hyper-reach to notify faculty, staff and students about any disruption of normal operating hours.

Weather-related delays occurring Monday-Friday will be communicated by 6:30 am. If senior staff decide there is a need for the University to close or to have a delay, that news can be found on CentralState.edu, via All-FYI, on the University’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and on the following media: WHIO-TV and whio.com; WDTN-TV; WKEF ABC 22; WRGT Fox 45. Weather notifications often include information about whether essential personnel should report at their normal hour.

Emergency Notifications

Emergency notifications require the immediate dissemination of information to the campus. The University uses hyper-reach, an instant communication system.

To sign up for hyper-reach, go to CentralState.edu, click on Emergency System listed in the top right corner of the homepage and select Xenia Twp. and Brush Row Road. Then enter the University’s address. The service allows for phone, text and email messages. It is suggested that you sign up for community alerts and weather alerts.

Depending on the level of severity of the emergency, some or all of the mediums listed under Delays and Closings plus hyper-reach could be used to notify the campus of an emergency.
