Central State University’s Retool Your School project starts on Aug. 24, 2017. First phase: Renovations at Walker Gymnasium.

Central State University won a $30,000 grant from The Home Depot’s “Retool Your School” program after placing among the top vote getters in the 2017 competition. This year, 72 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) competed for nine Retool Your School Campus Improvement Grants. Retool Your School, a program run by The Home Depot, supports sustainable campus beautification projects at HBCUs. Grants were awarded based on consumer voting and project proposal scores, which were determined by a panel of judges. The grants totaled $360,000.

Central State will use the funds to aid in making bathroom repairs in the residential halls and some renovations in Walker Gymnasium, a commonly used space by students, faculty, and staff.

Thank you, Home Depot for making our campus better. Check out this video by members of SGA, Student Ambassadors, Royal Court and CAB.
