Central State University selected as 2017 HBCU of the Year Sheba Harris selected as HBCU Female Coach of the Year

Central State University has been recognized for excellence by being a finalist in six award categories by HBCU Digest. Finalists were selected from more than 175 nominations from across the country.

Central State was selected as the winner for two of the most prestigious awards - 2017 HBCU of the Year and 2017 HBCU Female Coach of the Year.

This is a consecutive year recognition of stellar leadership for President Dr. Cynthia Jackson-Hammond, who garnered top honors as the recipient of the 2016 Female President of the Year award. Selection as finalists in both of these categories is a direct indicator of outstanding leadership, effective collaboration between the administration, faculty and staff and the progression of the institution.
